11Jul 09 - John Ginther, Vietnam Veteran, 3rd Marines, PGR and VoV MC brother, Del Norte, Colorado

The family of "Hippy John" Ginther has requested the presence of the PGR at services tentatively planned for Saturday, July 11. Surfer, Cowboy, Biker, Mountain Man, Sun Dancer, Sweat Lodge operator, Rainbow Family member and aspiring professional bass fisherman. Hippy John was all of the above after his stint as a combat Marine in late 60's Vietnam. A beloved brother in both the PGR as its founding member in the San Luis Valley and in the VoV MC; John will always be remembered for his quick wit, life off the grid and heart of gold.

A simple, generous man of many walks of life and the only man known in the last decade to ride into the bar in Creede on his mule for a beer. No word to this day on whether the mule remained legal.

More information as I receive it. I invite you as well to remenber this legend of southern Colorado with us. Miss you brother.

Patriot Guard Riders of South East Texas have been invited to honor Navy Seaman August Provost III, of Houston, Texas, who died while standing watch as sentry at a compound on base, in Camp Pendleton, California on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.

Seaman August Provost had completed three years of college before joining the Navy in March 2008, and was studying to become an architectural engineer.

Provost was assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5 at Camp Pendleton – a team of air-cushioned landing craft that carry troops and equipment from the sea on to the shore. Seaman Provost was beginning preparations for overseas deployment.

Navy spokesman Capt. Matt Brown described Provost as "a rising star in our Navy”. “Seaman Provost was an outstanding sailor looking forward to a bright future,” Brown said. “He was also a son, a friend and a shipmate, and all of us share in the grief and this sense of loss. He will most surely be missed by all who loved and cared for him, and by those who served with him.”

Thank you Seaman August Provost III for serving our country, and protecting our freedom.
