13 Jun 2006 9:21 PM Alert
Austin area members:

I don't have a staging time yet as we're awaiting final itinerary to decide a KSU time. I'm figuring the best staging point will be the McDonalds on I-35 @ Old Settlers (FM 3406) at exit 254 in North Round Rock. This will give everyone a chance to get a bite and hydrate before we leave and it puts us far enough north of Austin to avoid trying to shoot out into traffic going north. We'll most likely make a fuel/rest stop at the Czech Bakery in West around exit 351. This will put about 100 miles under the tires before first stop. Depending on location of the services, we might make another stop just south of Dallas to top off the tanks. Travel time from Round Rock to South Dallas area is 3 hours. With fuel/rest stops, plan on 4 hours on the road. BRING WATER, SUNSCREEN and FLAGS if you have them. All of this is speculative and subject to change depending on final itinerary but I wanted to give everyone in the Austin area an idea and what to plan for.

More details will be forthcoming as soon as I have more details. Watch the thread and your email for final itinerary.

Rest in Peace Chief Pratt. We appreciate your service to our country and mourn the loss of a good man. Our prayers go out to your family, friends and loved ones who will miss you most. I'm sorry that I cannot make the run from Houston to Dallas on Friday to show my appreciation in person.

It is truly a shame that one of the heros of our country should be taken from us by a so-called fellow American. I hope they catch the worthless bottom-feeding scum who did this so justice can be served.

I am going to make the mission to honor the Chief on Friday. If anyone is riding down from the Denton area, I would welcome the company. Do we know where we will be staging in Dallas?

To the family of CPO Pratt: my sincerest condolences on the loss of Kameron. It is such a senseless thing. I hope you find peace as soon as possible and trust in the Lord to see you through this terrible time.

CPO Pratt is on the prayer list.  Sincere condolences to the family.  May God forgive the perpetrator, but cast the wrath he deserves!                                                                          I have a prior commitment to my church, but will put my flag on the bike in his memory.  Cheifs are our navy's greatest asset!    PGR, ride with God.

East Texas, we will be leaving Palestine at 6 am Friday morning from our favorite Shell station on  Hwy. 19 north of town (by the college).  We'll meet other riders at the Corsicana Shell station, northeast corner of Hwy. 287 at I-45 at 7, and head towards the staging area in South Dallas.  See the maps in Double D's posting below.

Everyone ride safe, wear lots of sunblock, and bring ice water and gatorade-type drinks to prevent dehydration.  Watch out for critters and sleepy cage-drivers early Friday morning.  See you in Dallas.
