MISSION COMPLETE
PVT. WILLIAM “ANDY “ LONG
UNITED STATES ARMY

Today approx. 120 riders and a large number of cagers were on hand to pay their respects to Andy and witness the Honors rendered to him. The flag line was splendid at the entrance to the church and again at the committal ceremony, where Andy will finally rest among heroes in his place of honor.

The list of those who should be thanked for their efforts in support of this mission is quite long and my apologies if I fail to list them all here, but I should mention these:

Jacksonville Police Dept.
North Little Rock Police Dept.
Conway Police Dept.
Arkansas State Police
North Little Rock Fire Department
Arkansas Army National Guard Casualty Assistance Office and Funeral Honors Team
Staff of Griffin Leggitt Funeral Home
Staff of Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery
“Big Walt” Mission Support (flags and cold water)
Chaplain Miller, Arkansas Army National Guard
All the wonderful folks that provided hospitality following the mission

To all who traveled from near and far, to all those members of so many organizations who were represented here today, to all who held a flag and rode in honor of Andy, please know that your presence was very deeply appreciated by the family and loved ones of their soldier.

To the one we honor on this day, Private William Andrew “Andy” Long, Rest in Peace in your place among our heroes.

To the Long family, we all humbly extend our sincere gratitude to you for the honor of being present for his service.

Thank you for the mission you gave to your life in protecting our freedoms, and striving to give others, theirs. The lives of you and the men and women who have gone before you are raised high, and not given in vain. I honor you, and pray that our children will learn to do the same throughout coming generations. God bless your family, and may they keep their memories alive and rejoice in the life of a hero.

I had the privilege of riding on the mission for a fallen Arkansan who was laid to rest in Southern California, 1SGT Blue C. Rowe. On the way to work today I was reflecting on the large turn out for this fine soldier by the family, the Army and the PGR. On the radio, I heard an interview with Pvt Long's father who was describing the fateful events around his son's death and the services yesterday. He made note of the very large Patriot Guard Riders attendance and that how grateful he was that people cared for and valued his son's service. I have to think that these two fine soldiers are in a much better place, talkin Razorback football. Thank you Arkansas PGR for show of support, it is appreciated by those of us too far away to take part.

I had the honor of escorting this soldier to his resting place beside others like him. He gave his life on American soil. Proof that the fight is still in our back yards and our boys are always in harms way. To the father I say,"Semper Fi brother". To the family I say, "My family grieves for the loss of your son and our protector". To the men in uniform I say, "Thank you for your service for my family".
