It is with the utmost respect that I offer my condolences to the family of a true American Hero. George, may you rest in the knowledge that your duty was well done and you have the gratitude of an entire nation for your sacrifice and your service. I know that you will now be in the company of your fellow veterans who have gone before you and who will welcome you at the Gates upon your arrival. Stand down now and know that we will carry on your legacy of freedom for all our citizens. To your family and friends I ask that God comfort them now in their time of despair and remain with them as they adjust to their loss.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Capt. Goerge - Houghton. I only wish that more attention was givin to real Heros like Capt. Houghton, instead of musicians, entertainers, and athletes. Thank you Capt. Houghton for what you stood for. May you now rest in peace.

To the family of Captain George-Bryan Houghton: For days I have tried to think of just the right thing to say to offer you words of encouragement and peace. On a shelf above my computer, are three Bibles; texts I go to when I feel low or in doubt, but still I was uncertain of which words to choose. I went for a ride to clear my mind and talk to God – as I often do when I ride – and it was there in front of me, the answer of all answers.
In Psalms 121 David wrote, “I will lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made Heaven and Earth …”
When answers aren’t enough, there is Jesus – He helped me with the answer just as He will help you find peace.
I used to sing a song titled: “Healer of my Heart” and I think it helped me more than those I sang to. If I may, a phrase of the song says:
“God of light, take away the dark of night, fill me with your pure delight, touch me with your hand. God of grace, flow into this lowly place, listen to your children pray, take me as I am.
Healer of my heart, lover of my soul, maker of the stars, the Earth, the sky, come and make me whole Savior of this world, my voice praises you alone, Healer of my heart, Lover of my Soul.”

I pray the Lord that made Heaven and Earth will place His loving hands on you and give you comfort and peace in this your hour of need.

To Captain George-Bryan Houghton: Sir, Thank you for your outstanding service to this great country; in my eyes you are and always will be a True Hero. I am proud to say I served in the same Air Force as you. Captain Houghton, I am relieving you of your watch, Sir. We will take it from here; rest easy Sir. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Capt George-Bryan Houghton. Your loss is grievious beyond words, while the shadow left by a man such as Capt. Houghton is even greater. Thank you Capt. Houghton for your selfless sacrifice to your fellow countrymen. Peace be with you all.

Thank you for the mission you gave to your life in protecting our freedoms, and striving to give others, theirs. The lives of you and the men and women who have gone before you are raised high, and not given in vain. I honor you, and pray that our children will learn to do the same throughout coming generations. God bless your family, and may they keep their memories alive and rejoice in the life of a hero.

Patriot Guard welcomed and escorted the brother, an AF member, at the Asheville Airport. Also we stayed in the area to welcome and escort the wife of Capt Houghton. It was an honor to be there for the family.

After a wet ride to and from Charlotte Thursday night, CPT Houghton arrived home. We had close to 35 bikes on the escort back to Asheville. We stood watch all night at the funeral home until we relocated to the church on Friday afternoon. Visitation was Friday night folowed by round-the-clock watch. MANY thanks to the ones who came out and stood during the past few days. It really meant a lot to the family when CPT Houghton's dad showed up after midnight and saw that his son was not alone. Along with the PGR members, the Enka High School AFJROTC and the USAF Combat Climatology Center personnel helped in keeping watch over CPT Houghton.

The service on Saturday was one of the most impressive I have ever witnessed. We had 14 bikes to escort the family from home to the church, 43 bikes and 5 cagers that went to the church to set up the flag line. When we rounded the corner and saw all those flags, many eyes got misty very quickly! The Honor Guard did an excellent job. If the tears weren't flowing yet, the F-16 "missing man" flyover brought them out.

The Houghton's wanted me to pass along their thanks for doing what you do and thinking of them during this difficult time. Thank you to all who were with us for this service, and also to those with us in spirit. Thanks to Gary, Landmine, Lionheart, Cool Breeze, and Wolfrider for helping make this mission a success. MISSION COMPLETE, Tater.....out
