For what it's worth, I found out about Cpl Wallace on my friend Jen's LiveJournal: http://soldiergrrrl.livejournal.com/ , about halfway down the page. I visited the family's website, http://www.thejhatfields.org/blog/ , and posted that the PGR would be there for them if they would like. I don't know if they saw that, but I sincerely hope we are able to give some comfort to the family, friends, and everyone else by escorting Cpl Wallace to his eternal rest.
I don't know if I can make it, it depends on my work schedule, but if I can I will. My heartfelt condolences go to his family and all who are grieving, my thanks for Cpl Wallace's service in which he gave his all for all of us.
Sincerely, |

| STAGING TIME AND PLACE FOR VIRGINIA PGR....
Iwo Jima Memorial 0820 hours. Ride Brief 0840 SHARP. Procession due to enter ANC at APPROXIMATELY 0900-0930. This is soft due to rush hour traffic. Coordinating with police escort bringing in procession from So. Md. to time VA PGR to fall in behind to enter into ANC main gate. LEO will be calling me when they are approaching. Kick stands up upon communication.
Link to a map to get to Iwo Jima Memorial is below.
All VA PGR support is appreciated on this segment of Cpl. Matthew P. Wallace's final journey. Thank you for your service, sir. It matters....
Ride safe and travel well, all. It is my honor to be one of the RC's for this mission.

I was proud to be part of the group honoring Cpl. Wallace at the memorial service on Thursday. I regret that I will not be able to be there for his family and escort him to ANC on Wednesday. Since I won't be there, whoever left their flag and pole in my silver Magnum on Thursday, see George on the ride to ANC. He has them.

I had one of my customers at the post office come up to me today to ask me to thank the Patriot Guard for being there for Matthew. He told me that our being there meant a lot to the family and friends. So, I'm passing on the message....
I know that I was impressed as was my granddaughters at the turn out in Leonardtown. I wish I could have gone with you.

| MORNING, I WAS HONORED AND HUMBLED TO ASSIST IN THE ESCORT OF CPL.WALLACE TO ANC. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE SITE, HOWEVER, WAS THE HONOR AND RESPECT SHOWEN BY THE COMMUNITY OF LEONARDTOWN. TO SEE ALL THOSE PEOPLE LINE THE STREET'S, WAVING FLAGS, SHOWING BANNERS, SALUTING. IT MADE ME CRY. THE SUPPORT THEY SHOWED THE FAMILY IN THERE TIME OF GRIEF MUST HAVE HELPED TO COPE WITH THE LOSE. I WISH THAT WE DID NOT HAVE TO COME TOGETHER LIKE THIS, BUT THE REALITY IS THAT FOR US, AS A NATION ,TO STAY FREE, THIS PRICE WILL HAVE TO BE PAID AGAIN. TO THE FAMILY, AGAIN MY HEART FELT SORROW AND THANK YOU FOR GIVING US THE CHANCE TO SHOW OUR RESPECT TO YOUR SON. GOD BLESS,booboo |

Corporal Matthew P. Wallace
United States Army
10th Calvary Regiment
2nd Brigade Combat Team
4th Infantry Division
American Hero
Final Mission Report
On this day, Wednesday, August 02, 2006, Corporal Matthew P. Wallace was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. As he honorably lived his life, defending the United States of America, hundreds of Matt's family, comrades in arms, friends, neighbors, and his fellow Americans gathered to honor his ultimate sacrifice for us. Today, Matt gave me a personal gift. Today was the first time that I acted as Ride Captain on a Patriot Guard Mission. Today is my 48th birthday. And the gift that Matt gave me is the freedom I have to ride with my fellow Americans to honor his gift to this great nation. For no greater gift can a man make than to place himself between the enemy and his loved ones. No greater gift than to give his life for what he believed in. Duty, honor, God, and country.
Mission Phase I
On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Keith Johnson, Ride Captain for PGR MD, executed a mission to display flags for the viewing at Patuxent River Assembly of God Church. Honor was shown to Corporal Wallace, his family, friends, and neighbors.
Mission Phase II
On Thursday, July 27, 2006, Keith Johnson, executed a mission for the Memorial Service at the Patuxent Presbyterian Church. A detachment of 6 PGR riders was sent to escort Corporal Wallace and his family to the church. We had a great turnout of riders to present flags and honors to Corporal Wallace and his family. It was a testament to Matt that the church was filled to capacity and beyond.
Mission Phase III
Today we had outstanding support from 78 motorcycles, a large number of cages, and fantastic support from the Saint Mary's County Sheriff and his fine Deputies. The Maryland State Police as well as the Capitol Police did an outstanding job of escorting the procession.
The morning broke clear and warm, and when we departed for Arlington, it was on flag lined streets. The Citizens of Leonardtown showed up in force to honor Matt, and the Citizens of Maryland appeared on Route 5 waving their flags to honor our hero. Two miles of road was filled with the funeral party, rumbling bikes, and cars. A sight to behold as the stream of lights stretched out beyond sight in my mirrors, a sight that southern Maryland has never seen before, and hopefully, will never see again.
The Arlington National Cemetery Staff were superb in their performance as always, and the Army Honor Guard could not have done more to lay their brother to rest amongst his fellow heroes with great honor.
After the service, Suzie Q from Virginia, Bob Bell, and me presented a memorial plaque to Matt's mother, and a memorial display frame and coin to his father. My thanks to Bob for speaking for us, because it was all I could do to present the plaque to her.
Thank you to everyone who made this such a successful mission.
Respectfully Yours,
Stephen C. Maley

Thank you for riding with Matthew Wallace! Your presence was profoundly comforting to everyone. You provided a sense of security; you were visible reminders of the values Matt believed in. Riding in the limo and looking out the back window to see so many riders was an amazing tribute to Matt. Thank you for the sacrifice of your personal time and comfort in order to honor our beloved soldier.
