It was my pleasure to stand with each and every one who paid respects to Sgt. David Weir yesterday. I am late in posting for as I arrived home I was advised of a mission for today here in Georgia. I like so many others were astounded by the show of PATRIOTISM by the citizens of Cleveland. Thre ride to the interstate was Red, White, and Blue. The ride down the Interstate was impressive, overpass after overpass with Tennesseeans waving flags, and LEO's saluting.
Chatanooga, What a great display of compassion and Patiotism. This fine Family Man and American Hero was given the
best that could be expected and them some. Thank you to the Wier family for inviting us, and my heart has another teardrop put there by Davids Ultimate Sacrafice.
Mike thanks for a great mission
TENNESSEE thank you for the Compassion, and Patriotism
May GOD BLESS each and everyone of you.

I was unable to make this trip to stand in honor of Sgt. Weir, my thanks to all who did and to Cleveland, Tenn. I have viewed the pictures that have been posted, thanks for the links. I like so many others am proud of the show of PATRIOTISM by the citizens of Cleveland. THIS TOWN GETS IT. Many other cities I have visited with the PG haven’t a clue what it’s all about. A big HURRAH for Cleveland.

You Tennessee boys do it right.

May God Bless the Weir families in the coming months as they adjust to the loss of this fine man, we all grieve with you and feel the pain.

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

Sgt. Weir can now rejoice as we cry, not for him, he has made it across to the other side to be with God, but we cry for ourselves, for our loss of another good man.

SGT Weir was one of my Forward Observers on my Fire Support Team over here in iraq. His loss deeply saddens myself and the rest of my team, but to see how PGR and other groups showed their support and respect to such a great extent helps to heal our wounds. I want to send my most heartfelt thankyou to all who participated in this mission and made it such a success. David will forever be in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers and Patriot Guard will always have my support. Thank you all for taking care of my guy when i couldn't be there.

God Bless,

This was my first mission with the PGR . As all of you have stated , my pride in the way the communities and riders came together still overwhelms me . I simply do not have the words to let you know what an honor and priviledge it is to be associated with such fine and patriotic people . On my way home I stopped for coffee at a rest. near the Tenn. N.C. line . A young man asked me where I had been . When I explained what we had just done and why there wasn't a dry eye in the place . Everyone thanked me for what we did for the Weir family . I just wanted you all to to know because I recieved the thanks In your names as well . In regards to the dress , I think it is a good idea . The PGR has done something for me as well as for the families of our fallen heroes . They have given a sence of a new purpose and pride that I have not felt in many years . Thank you for your commitment to this honorable cause . Yours , Don

God Bless Sgt. Weir and his family. Great job Mike and PGR. My first ride with the PGR and now they will always have my support. Hope all the different "colors" did not offend anyone. Here in Chattanooga we have a large number of clubs that will pull together for a common goal such as this one. I was there with three clubs and we all understood before we left that this was a mission of respect for Sgt Weir and family. I am deeply humbled by my first mission, it is one day I will never forget. The PGR members I met showed respect and dignity to all riders. I am new here but am very proud to be part of the PGR.

Mike did a great job. I am proud of my community for standing tall with a former student. The Patriot Guard is so needed. I will look for ways in the future to help. Our sons and daughters make us proud serving our country and we owe them to make sure theu receive the honor and dignity they deserve when they make the ultimate sacrife or pass away. As a Marine Corps veteran we are all brothers and sisters for one cause: the safeguarding of the American people.

I was there at Sgt. Weir's Service. Many Prayers going to his family! I was there on behalf of "Soldiers' Angels" and also because Sgt. Weir was from my city. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the PGR's for the first time and what an honor it was. We had a wonderful turnout. The support that TN showed was just outstanding. May Sgt. Weir's family always know, that we are here for them at all time. May Peace flood their hearts.

I was blown away by the support from LEO and the entire community.  Seeing people on the overpasses, and along the road with hands on hearts and saluting was incredible.  Mike,  I can't imagine how much had to go into the planning and execution of this mission,  and you made it happen perfectly.  Raindancer, you and your husband picking up the rear with those HUGE flags on your trike was great, and I am proud to have rode with you all.

Mike, job well done. To everyone. job well done. So grateful the PGR was invited to attend and the family and those involved were well supported during this time.
I am glad there was such a grand response from the community, other riding groups to show how we care for our Fallen Soldiers.
The ride report was very touching.

It is my personal preference to wear black pants with a white shirt. I can't require others to hold my point of view. We come as individuals to honor our fallen. I am thankful we had the turnout we did for this Hero. I will stand next to anyone that arrives to support a mission. I don't look at there appearance, whether their wearing a vest that is plain or with patches on the back. They most likely arrived the same way I did and for the same reason, To show Honor and Respect for the Fallen/Wounded.

Great leadership and comradery thru out the ranks.
Thanks Mike and tall guy ( Tn PGR officer). A large highly visable mission carred out with complete professionalism.....proud to be part of it!

I worried alittle about the two color/patch wearing groups that showed up but after talking with the dominate "Unwanteds" group I was sure that we were all there for the same reason.

I think the white or blue shirt looks very good and would give alittle distinction between the PGR and others that show up. I think it could be a factor someday when/if trouble does arise.....the finger will be pointed at the PGR!

Until we ride again.......

The last couple of missions I have attended - including the one for Sgt Weir yesterday - I think I was the only one wearing black pants and a white long-sleeve dress shirt. Are we not doing that anymore? If not, I think it is a shame. Dressing appropriately shows professionalism and pride, not to mention respect for the family. I would not want anyone showing up at my son's funeral wearing a t-shirt from a bike rally. This is not a complaint, just somethng to think about. I was honored to be there.

This is the Ride report for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor Sgt David Thompson Weir who gave all on September 14, 2006.

Sgt. Weir, assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky. was laid to rest today, September 25, 2006, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

May God rest his soul and watch over his family especially his son Gavin.

Rest in Peace Sgt David Thompson Weir, you may stand down.  Thank you for your service.

Mission Accomplished

September 25, 2006.

Thanks to all of the Patriot Guard Riders that turned out Sunday and stood vigil and escorted the family home.  Thanks to the two new members that stood vigil all night with the LEO’s.

Thanks to all of the Patriot Guard Riders that stood in Honor to the family and Community today.

There were countless numbers of citizens of Cleveland and from the surrounding communities on hand today to pay their last respects.  All day they constantly thanked the PGR for being there to show their respect for Sgt Weir and family.  This is one of the most Patriotic Communities I have ever been in.

The coordination and cooperation with the LEO’s, Funeral Home staff and the local Government officials was second to none.  They were instrumental in the success of our Mission.

I really don’t know the numbers of PGR and supporters that rode with us today.  I would guess about 125 or greater.  Our guest and supporters were Rolling Thunder, CMA, U.S. Military Vets, Sons of Christ, VFW, and many others – I wish I could remember their names and thank them.

There’s no way I can express how much I owe to some people for their support.

To note a few:

Ancient1, Sarge, Dodat, Rainey and spouse (sorry couldn’t resist that), the gentleman and his two sons (new members) from Cleveland and many others actually too numerous to mention.  I had numerous phone calls of encouragement from several State and Ride Captains.  If I haven’t mentioned you by name I’m sorry but rest assured we will never forget you.

Nick Petty – Ancient1, addressed the final briefing, representing National and gave everyone encouragement.  Thanks Nick!

The father and sons from Cleveland supplied a 101st Airborne Flag, which they posted with an American Flag at the entrance for the family and guest.

Interstate 75 was almost totally shutdown to traffic on both Southbound, our direction by LEO’s, and Northbound by Patriotic Citizens, truckdrivers, motorhomes, delivertrucks and passenger vehicles.  EVERY overpass on the ~40 mile trip had Flags and people saluting or hands over hearts.

The LEO’s in Cleveland, Bradley County, Hamilton County, Chattanooga and Tennessee State Troopers as best they could gave I75 South, I24 West and all roads in between from Cleveland to the National Cemetery to the Funeral procession,

God Bless America

I would like to add this to the Ride Report:
Since I joined the PGR I have stood in the cold, hot, rain and dry and have never been more proud.  I really don't know how to say how much I appreciate being a member of this organization.  I take pride explaining to people who ask "What is the Patriot Guard".
Some people just can't comprehend why we do what we do for someone we have never met and then tell them "Its not about us, Its about the family and the fallen".
There was a comment made to me today - "Bet your glad its not raining".  I humbly answered back "My Brothers and Sisters stood at vigil in the rain yesterday".  The man cried.
Thank you PGR Brothers and Sisters for who and what you are and stand for.
Thank you Founding members and the Legion Riders who started the concept for giving thousands the healing they have needed for so long.
Talking to several Club members today I realized that the Patriot Guard has become a force that has brought people together to stand on Hallowed Ground with no territories.
