 Cpl. David Bass, USMC, my nephew, left for Iraq on 2/22... Our family was informed on April 3rd that my nephew had lost his life serving his country. He was to turn 21 on 4/23. David was extremely small in size, and I realized time after time how much more effort he had to find to keep up with stockier, larger soldiers. But he made it. I was fortunate enough to tell him many many times how much respect I had for him, how proud I was, and that the Marines had made one fine man out of him. Thank you David.
