I never had the opportunity to serve in the military. As I get older and as I see what happens overseas, I think about it often. The least I can do is to remember those who have served and have given the ultimate sacrifice for us and our nation. I am the owner of Bernier Funeral Home and a licensed New Hampshire Funeral Director and Embalmer, I purchased the home in 1993. Born and Raised in Manchester, I am a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School; I hold a degree in Emergency Health Care from the NH Technical Institute, and graduated from Mt. Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts, with a major in Mortuary Sciences. Prior to purchasing the funeral home, I was employed with the Derry, New Hamphire Fire Department for twenty years. Served as a Captain and was charged with the supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Division of the Department. Active in the community, I am a former board member and chairman of the Tri Area Visiting Nurses Association, a current Ward Clerk in Somersworth, a Board Member and Chairperson of the Nominating Committee to Seacoast Area Widowed Persons Services, and a member of the Parish Council of St. Martin Parish, where I also serve as a lector and usher. I also hold membership in the Somersworth Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree; also is a member of The National Funeral Directors and New Hampshire Funeral Directors Associations. I am also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Somersworth. I am an active ham radio operator, and I enjoy history; I am a participant in The First New Hampshire Regiment, a re-enactment group portraying 18th-century living history. I enjoy my harley motorcycle (2003 Road King Classic) and I am a member of the Seacoast Harley Owners Group. I have been married for the past 33 years to the former Darlene Blanchard of Goffstown; we have a son, Matthew, who currently attends Anna Maria College.
