This is the final itinerary for the Patriot Guard mission to honor O. D. Hughes, 78, U.S. Army veteran from Longview, Texas.  Mr. Hughes passed away Saturday, June 27th.  His family has requested that the PGR be present at his services.  The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made.

O. D. Hughes, 78, of Longview, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1930 in the Short Community of Shelby County to Druie Hughes and Myrtie Monroe Hughes. O. D. served in the U.S. Army, followed by 12 years as Gregg County Constable.  While having a successful entrepreneurial career, O. D. and his wife of 55 years, LaRea Hughes, touched many people through their lives and business. O. D. left a legacy of real estate business ventures, the thriving H&W Honda, Yamaha, and Marine stores of East Texas, and an example of a life lived to the fullest to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. O. D. was an active member in the Gold Wing Riders Association and Caltex, a charter member of the Masonic lodge # 1396, a Mason Worshipful Master, and a member of the Shriners.

Services: 12 noon, Wednesday, July 1st at Mobberly Baptist Church (625 E Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75605 / 903-663-3000) with Rev. Robert Morris officiating.  Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Longview.

Staging Site and Time:  10:30 AM at the church.  All new members are requested to sign a PGR Release of Liability prior to the riders' safety meeting, which will commence at 10:45 PM, with the flag line in place at 11 AM.  Instructions regarding movement to the cemetery will be given by the Ride Captain.  Please remain flexible as to the requirements of the mission (SEMPER GUMBY).

Weather Report:  Mostly sunny and HOT.  Remember to stay hydrated and use your sunscreen.  The flag truck will have water available.

ALL GROUPS, CLUBS, INDEPENDENTS, ETC. ARE WELCOME.  The only prerequisite is RESPECT.  Also remember, you do not have to ride a motorcycle to join in.  The flag line is open to all who wish to participate.

Stand tall and silent as you honor this fallen veteran and his family.  Please ride safely and defensively.  And thanks again for your participation.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of O. D. Hughes, USA Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, O.D.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
