It will be my honor to be RC to welcome these heroes back home.

We have limited access to the troops when the arrive at the ADAC center.  That's because they have not yet turned in their weapons and any other sensitive gear.  If you can make the staging time listed below, fine.  I will see what our options are (can we greet as they get off the buses in back  -- can we greet as they reboard buses out front to leave for the SEC).  At any rate, we can no longer count on CSPD escort with their excellent traffic-blocking.  We will not escort as a disorganized column of stragglers so our approach will be to leave the ADAC ahead of the troops and greet them as they arrive at Ft Carson.  The scheduled time for the welcome home ceremony is 1850hrs (6:50PM).

If you just want to skip the ADAC arrival confusion, you can just go directly to Ft Carson.  You should plan on getting to Gate 1 no later than 6:00 PM.  Go through the Guard gate check procedure and park off of the road just before the traffic circle.  Be ready with flags flying, lights flashing, sirens wailing, horns honking, etc  to join up with the group as they procede to the SEC.  As before, we can park in the back of the SEC and quickly go around the front to the inside.  Avoid using the back doors --- those are for the troops' special entrance.

Yes, It would be a lot easier with full CSPD escort but this is our present reality.  Thanks for your support for our heroes and their families.

WELCOME HOME Mission 10 Feb '10, Ft. Carson Troops Returning from OCONUS Deployment, Colorado Springs, CO

10 Feb '10, Wednesday, Ft. Carson Troops will be returning from OCONUS Deployment and arriving Colorado Springs, CO.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested and invited to WELCOME HOME and THANK these HEROES.

STAGE: 15:50 (3:50 P.M.)
Staging will now take place further into the Commercial Area (leading into the A/DACG, beyond the "old" Staging area at Milton Probey and Air Cargo Rd).  New Signage has been erected identifying the new "Road Names" and a sign directing to the "Military Terminal" (a.k.a. A/DACG).  For those new to this Staging Area: take Milton Probey/Drennan Rd. from Powers Blvd. as though heading to the Colorado Springs Commercial Airport.  Approximately 3/4-mile from Powers Blvd. turn right onto Air Cargo Rd.  Follow Air Cargo Rd. which will make an immediate 90-degree left turn and parallel Milton Probey Rd.  The FIRST Right Turn will be onto "Corporate Drive", which takes you between the 2 large Commercial Business Buildings, and leads up to the "Military Terminal" sign and Staging location.  Stage on the West (* toward the Mts.) side of the road before entering the gravel/stone roadway.
We "may" follow the Soldiers to Ft. Carson, Special Events Center (SEC) for an 18:50 (6:50 PM) WELCOME HOME CEREMONY.
Alternatively, we "may" preceed the Soldier's to Ft. Carson and pick-them-up at Gate-1 and Escort them to the SEC.

PLEASE watch the thread for finalization, details, and RC Instructions for this Welcome Home.

RC resuested / TBD.

Thank You, everyone, for all your support to the Soldiers, their Families and Our Nation.
