In addition to the Sturgis Michigan service
(Wesleyan Church, 907 N Nottawa St, Sturgis, MI 49091)
there will be a LaGrange Indiana military rites
service at Lakeland High School,( -899] E 075 N Lagrange, IN 46761) on
Saturday, Aug 30th. This will be a 2-part mission.
Stage 1: Escort
Mission
Indiana Patriot Guard Riders will stage at The
LaGrange American Legion (100 Industrial Parkway) from 11:30 to 12. There will be a briefing at 12:15 with kick stands up at
12:30. We will ride to Michigan,(helmets are
required) to arrive PRIOR to the beginning of the service
at 1pm, to escort SSgt Rodgers from Sturgis to
LaGrange. Please do not arrive during the service.
We will fall in with the Michigan PGR and
escort to LaGrange (13 miles). When our procession arrives at the high
school in LaGrange, we have a designated parking area in a well manicured
grassy area near the football field. Kick stand pads will be
available.
Stage 2: Flag Line
The second stage of this mission will have a
briefing at 2:15 at the high school at Russ' black Harley trailer. Please
arrive by 2pm.
Due to limited parking at the high school, please
park on the side streets. We will have flags up at 2:30pm, along with
an organized group of community members.
We will restand flags prior to the end of the
service as SSgt Rodgers is escorted by LEO's back to Michigan.
After the military rites service we may escort back
to Bronson Michigan. Details are yet to be finalized and will be announced
Saturday.

Visitation for Staff Sergeant Rodgers is set for Thursday August 28th from 6pm-8pm and Friday August 29th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Hackman Funeral Home Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, in Sturgis.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 1 pm at Sturgis Wesleyan Church.
Staging for all visitation will be 1 hour before each segment with flags up 1/2 hour before visitation times Staging location at the Chapel or across the street, Chapel is just east of downtown Sturgis on US 12 on the south side
Staging for Saturday will be 11:30 to 12:00 , with flags up at 12:15 Stage at the north side of Church parking lot

DoD Identifies Army Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Kristopher D. Rodgers, 29, of Sturgis, Mich., died Aug. 16 in Korengal, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

SSgt. Kristopher D. Rodgers earned my respect and gratitude when he volunteered to serve our country. His efforts to make the world a safer place will be remembered with honor and appreciation by this American family.
