CPT Albert Lee Apel served his country as a member of the United States Army. During his tenure in the Army, he completed two tours in Vietnam, as well as two tours in Germany. After his initial enlistment, CPT Apel attended Officer’s Candidate School. He was awarded: the National Defense Service Medal; Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge; Vietnam Service Medal; Senior Army Aviator Badge; Good Conduct Medal (4th award); Purple Heart; Army Commendation Medal (1st oak leaf cluster); Distinguished Flying Cross; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Army Meritorious Unit Citation; Bronze Star (w/ V Device); Meritorious Service Medal; Army Achievement Medal (Num 12 w/V Device); Aviation Mechanics Badge; Expert Qualification Badge (M16); and Marksman Qualification Badge (38 Pistol). Upon completion of his military service, CPT Apel continued to serve his country working at Ft. Rucker, AL in the New Equipment Training Branch until his final retirement
