In 2001, Joe enlisted as an active-duty member of the United States Army as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC/CBRN) Specialist. His first duty station was at Camp Casey, South Korea, serving with Alpha Battery 5-5 Air Defense Artillery. He later moved to the 2-7 Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. In 2005, he deployed to Iraq where his company was assigned to Tikrit for twelve months. Upon return to the States, he received orders with “The Regulators” of 4-3 Aviation at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. His company later deployed for 15 months to Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. Joe continued his military career as an Army Recruiter in Lewisburg, West Virginia. His final duty station was at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. SSG Bailey was honorably medically discharged after thirteen years of service.
In 2017, Joe began his career with the United States Postal Service, starting as a part-time mail carrier. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced to the position of Postmaster. Throughout his career, he served and supported numerous post offices in the region, including Ashland, Kentucky; Catlettsburg, Kentucky; Ironton, Ohio; and Jackson, Ohio
