US Army, Vietnam veteran, SP/4, Robert “Bob” John Mulholland – Cottonwood / Chico / Sacramento, CA, Died October 19, 2025 at the age of 78
Bob’s service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as part of the elite 101st Airborne, the “Screaming Eagles,” was a source of immense pride for him. After receiving his draft notice and finding out that a paratrooper made an extra $25 a month, he chose to join the 101st Airborne. Bob served in Vietnam at the height of the Tet Offensive and was severely wounded, after recovering he returned to his unit. His numerous medals and commendations include: the U.S. Army Parachute Badge; Purple Heart; the Bronze Star w/ “V” device (3OLC).
After retiring, Bob was very active in local and National politics, in addition to veterans affairs, dedicating his time to raising awareness and funds to support U.S. service members across all military branches, honoring and helping countless Vietnam veterans who served our country. He was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, supported the construction of the Vietnam Wall, and helped bring the replica, “The Traveling Wall”, to communities across America, including his hometown of Chico, CA.
Bob will be missed by his large, loving family, his many friends and comrades in arms. The Patriot Guard Riders will stand with them today, January 23, 2026, tall, silent and proud
