I cannot thank the Dallas Ft. Worth Patriot Guard and Bill Kushnir enough for making my father’s memorial extra special. Seeing the guard not only lead the procession, but to see all the other members lined up at the pavilion with flags added ceremony and beauty to my father’s service. My father wanted my son to receive his flag as he was divorced from my mother and only married to his new wife for a short while. However, knowing my dad’s wishes to give my son the flag, the wife took his flag anyway. When I shared this with the Patriot Guard they provided a second flag that the honor guard also presented to my son after they presented the flag from my father’s casket to his wife. I am proud to have the patriot guard flag hanging in a frame in our home. It will always remind me of the kindness veterans show service members and their families. They gave me and my father respect where our family members could not be bothered. There was a lot of sadness and trauma surrounding my father’s passing. A dysfunctional estranged family where in the end he only had me by his side. And I had no one by my side other than my children. The Patriot Guard gave me a family that day to be strong and celebrate my father and his service. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am crying as I write this. Thank you.
