On July 11, 1944, Hero Gineth enlisted in the Army as part of M Company, 21st Infantry, 24th Division. He was trained in heavy weaponry but later was transferred to the motor pool. He served in the Philippines and was part of the occupying Army in Japan. Hero Gineth attained the rank of Sargent. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. Hero Gineth was honorably discharged on July 29, 1946. At the time of his passing, he was 103 years young.
