The Hernando County VFW and American Legion Post 99 & 418 have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand a flag line to help support the 82nd anniversary commemoration of this tragedy.
During the height of WWII more than 900 service members, civilians, and crew aboard the U.S. Army Transport Dorchester sailed through the North Atlantic for Greenland. Shortly after midnight a German torpedo struck the Dorchester. As the ship sank the Four Chaplains took off their own life preservers to give to others. All four Chaplains succumbed to the icy waters of the Atlantic.
Please bring your 3×5 American Flags and stand in silent respect for these Heroes.
