Major George Michael Collins, 76, served in the Arkansas Army National Guard, for 23 years in both the enlisted and officer ranks. After joining the National Guard in September of 1968, he later completed Officer Candidate School, in Class 18 of the Arkansas Military Academy. Most of his assignments were within the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. His last 4 years in the guard were spent on an Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) tour, attached to the 509th Infantry Regiment (Airborne). Personal accomplishments he was proud of were building a dream home and restoring a red 1954 GMC truck, for his wife. Besides his National Guard service, Mike was a certified Master Electrician. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, son, brother, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins
