John graduated from Winthrop High School 1982. John began his college education at Northern Maine Technical College and graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta. He was an avid college student with a love for learning.
John was a United States Air Force veteran and proudly served. He was stationed at Luke AFB, AZ, Rhein-Main AB, Germany, March AFB, CA, and Loring AFB, ME. John held the rank of SSgt and retired as the Air Force Recruiter in Augusta, ME.
He was a longtime member of the VFW Webber Memorial Post 9526 where he was serving as Quarter Master. John was an active member of the American Legion Post 40 where he was currently serving as Second Vice Commander. John was a member of the Honor Guard, Quarter Master of the Amvets, a member of the Legion Riders and Fraternal Order of Eagles/4330 Aerie, Girl Scouts Troop 141 VFW/American Legion Liaison, Chartered Organization Representative Boy Scout Troop 604.

There will be a flag line at the cemetery. Those not participating in the escort, please arrive at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME 04330, by 09:45.
Flags will not be provided.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will not be provided, please bring your own.
